Caring for your cyanoype clothing.

Hand wash your item as little as possible.

Hand wash in cold water. Turn garment inside out before washing. Be sure detergent doesn’t contain phosphates, bleach, or sodium. Air dry. Do not dry in direct sunlight, this can alter coloration of the print. Over-washing can also cause the print to fade.If fading occurs, soaking print in a dilute bath of hydrogen peroxide and water can help to restore vibrance of the print.

Cyanotype prints are permanent, but may fade or yellow over time if exposed to phosphates, or alkaline environments. You should always wash them in cold water using non-phosphate detergent. Sweat and oils may also lead to discoloration.
